Pueblo of Zuni

About

The Zuni Economic Development and Community Center (ZECDC) operates as a 477 program, consolidating ten federal programs into a “one-stop shop” to provide education, employment, and training services for enrolled tribal members and federally recognized members residing within the Pueblo of Zuni service area. ZECDC plays a vital role in the community by offering support for education and job training, including services like cash assistance and childcare. Through its partnerships, the program creates opportunities for adult basic education, work experience, internships, and training for both adults and youth, all tailored to meet the unique needs of the Zuni community.

The Pueblo of Zuni Indian Reservation is located in west-central New Mexico and is notable for its remote and traditional lifestyle, preserving sacred cultural practices and a unique language unrelated to any other known language group. With a population of 12,213, Zuni is the largest of the 19 New Mexico Pueblo Tribes. The ZECDC aims to empower tribal members by providing access to resources and opportunities for self-awareness and economic development, fostering independence and healthy lifestyles. While eligibility for certain programs requires Zuni tribal enrollment, some scholarships and assistance are available regardless of residency on the reservation.
