GENERAL DEFINITION: The purpose of this position is to drive the WIC RV to various locations for clinical services. Perform maintenance work of average difficulty, using various hand tools and power tools.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Zuni WIC Director and receives assignments from Assistant Nutrition/Breastfeeding Coordinator.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No Supervisory Duties.
DUTIES:
Conducts inspections on RV, program vehicles and equipment to assure they are in safe working conditions.
- Performs pre and post-trip and return vehicle inspections.
- Inspects vehicles and check gas, oil, and water levels prior to departure.
- Identifies and address any vehicle problems appropriately.
- Complete a monthly maintenance report to the supervisor on status of RV and vehicles.
- Report equipment problems to immediate supervisor on status for corrective action.
- Responsible for performing minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and servicing of equipment in accordance with established maintenance manuals and schedules.
- Schedules maintenance as recommended by the owner’s manual to ensure that each vehicle is maintained properly to pass all periodic inspections.
- Completes a monthly maintenance report to supervisor on status of vehicles and equipment.
Inspects cleans and maintains equipment and program vehicles
- Performs routine maintenance and repair on an as-needed basis to ensure safety.
- Ensures cleanliness of vehicle – removing any litter, cleans, and washes the interior and exterior.
- Cleans vehicle windshields, license plates, head and tail lights areas for visual obstruction.
Performs maintenance and cleaning work areas of the WIC Program and department facilities
- Maintains an inventory of cleaning supplies to ensure program has sufficient supplies on hand.
- Performs daily walk -around inspection of the building in the morning and the end of the day and completes an inspection report.
- Reports needed repairs to the supervisor
- Cleans restroom and restocks bathroom supplies as needed.
- Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and dust the hallways, clean kitchen, office areas.
- Removes snow and ice from entryways during inclement weather.
- Performs daily routine maintenance work both inside and outside of building.
Performs support services to WIC Personnel.
- Delivers and picks up correspondence/supplies/equipment to and from various providers.
- Assists with promoting program activities
- Assists with remote services.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must be able to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision in compliance with policies and procedures. Must have positive attitudes. Good knowledge of hand and garden tools and procedures required to perform repairs on weight room, cardiovascular and office equipment. Must have good driving skills. Must be able to perform cleaning and maintenance of program buildings, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. Ability to use janitorial/cleaning equipment and supplies, paying attention to caution labels and related matters. Ability to read, write and keep simple records. Must be able to have some basic knowledge of computer skills. Ability to speak fluently and converse in both Zuni and English, including ability to translate between both languages. Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with tribal employees and the general public.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or GED with one (1) year of work experience in the areas of public transportation, minor maintenance of vehicles and building maintenance.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATES: Driving is an essential part of the duties. Must have a valid State of New Mexico Driver’s License with no DWI/DUI convictions within the past three (3) years. Must be insurable for liability purposes.
- First Aid/CPR Certified – Must obtain within six (6) months of employment
- Defensive Driving Course – Mush obtain within one (1) year of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is primarily performed out of doors. While performing duties of this job, the incumbent must: Regularly hear, sit reach with hands and arms, and use leg/foot to reach or handle controls. Regularly exert physical effort. Finger and manual dexterity are regularly needed to drive non-power steering vehicles. Frequently talk, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects or controls. Regularly to stoop, bend, and twist at the waist, lift up to 50 lbs. push, pull and climb stairs. Possess visual acuity including distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly be exposed to fumes, odors, and moderate noise. Have a high degree of memory and concentration.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Position is subject to Pre-Employment drug testing. Position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug screening for duration of employment. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include weekends. Must be a self-starter and dependable with a strong desire to learn and excel in the work place. Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds with minimum efforts. Must undergo and successfully pass a thorough character background check and FBI Fingerprint Check. Must be abstinent from alcohol and drugs.
